Festival Poetry Calabar 2017



Festival Poetry Calabar starts
tomorrow with a special "Calabar
Welcomes", the usual opener
showcasing
the artistic flavors of
the friendly people of Calabar. The
LOC is bigger and richer with
creatively gifted young minds led
by a Senior Citizen, Bassey Asuquo
bridging the old and the new for a
better now. As expected, and
thanking God for His mercies, yours
truly is here to join others in
lifting higher, what started in
2015. In its third edition, Festival
Poetry Calabar is on tract
connecting various people for
poetry and greatness.
"Today, I met with members of the
LOC and Volunteers determined to
lend meaning to sense and essence
that's Festival Poetry Calabar. I am
yet to condition myself to
effectively expressing my joy of
meeting new faces ready to work
for the advancement of poetry and
literature in Calabar and
environing communities".
All is set for Festival Poetry
Calabar 2017 with an enhanced PIN
POETRY GALLERY where
participants freely consume meals
of poetry from different poets who
made it tops in various poetry
competitions organised by Poets in
Nigeria Initiative.
The organisers of Festival Poetry
Calabar, is Festival Poetry
Foundation a collaboration of PIN,
Calabar Literary Society and Nka
Literary Group.
As initiators of the Festival, PIN is
committed to keeping the fire of
Poetry reading, writing and
performance alive in Nigeria's
Canaan City.
A very important item on this
year's program is the award of Ken
Egbas' Festival Poetry Prize to
winners of the annual contest.
Secondly, there would be reading
from Eriata on Marble (book of
running lines) by Eriata Oribhabor
The James Ene Henshaw Foundation
would be staging parts of VAGINA
MONOLOGUES a world class play
highlighting women issues ranging
from domestic violence, abuse, etc
From 6pm - 8pm, participants from
all over the country would be
treated to beautiful poetry
renditions garnished with plenteous
goodies. The event lasts till 23rd
December, 2017.
